David McCallum

Have you felt overcome with grief and wanted to talk to someone about it?

David has an eclectic mix of life experience that informs his professional counselling practice. David is a graduate of St. Stephen’s University in New Brunswick where he studied art history and literature and had the opportunity to visit Europe and Asia on study-travel terms. David’s passion for creativity and social justice led him to complete social work degrees at McMaster University and University of Windsor.

David has a calm, empathetic and welcoming nature. He intently calls out the values and strengths in the lives of those he serves. David has professional experience both on the front lines of mental health and within clinical social work settings. David has training in Cognitive-Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), Narrative Therapy, Grief Therapy, Internal Family Systems Therapy (IFS), Emotionally Focused Individual Therapy (EFIT). His areas of counselling interest include: grief, bereavement, caregiver support, cancer, spirituality, depression, borderline personality disorder (BPD), anxiety, relationships, addictions (internet and pornography), and trauma. David has also completed Internal Family Systems (IFS)-Level 1 and Level 2, Certificate in Trauma Counselling for Mental Health Professionals-Level 1 as well as a basic certification in Grief Therapy from the Portland Institute of Loss and Transition.

Outside of the office David pursues interests including traveling, visiting art galleries, attending Toronto Raptors games, running, biking, and reading with a good cup of tea.
