Leandro Bastos

Moving out of survival mode and back toward a sense of personal control, clarity, and growth.

Leandro provides a calm, grounded, and collaborative space where individuals and couples can safely unpack difficult experiences, understand their underlying roots, and reclaim a sense of agency and well-being. When facing prolonged stress, relationship strain, or major life interruptions, it is common for overwhelming anxiety, anger, or reactive patterns like emotional withdrawal to naturally emerge. Rather than viewing these symptoms as personal failures, Leandro works with clients to understand them as responses to an overwhelmed system, supporting a transition from a place of survival toward intentional growth.

With over 13 years of clinical experience, Leandro specializes in supporting individuals and couples (ages 16 and older) across a wide range of personal, professional, and relational challenges. Leandro utilizes a trauma-informed, integrative framework combining the structured strategies of Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and Solution-Focused work with the deeper,root-level insights of Narrative and Psychodynamic therapies. His key areas of clinical focus include emotional regulation, anxiety, depression, anger, parenting struggles, navigating grief, workplace burnout, and the unique identity adjustments associated with immigration. For partners experiencing relational distress, Leandro incorporates the Gottman Method to help couples break through gridlocked communication, address defensiveness, and rebuild a foundation of intimacy and shared meaning.

Leandro holds an MDiv in Clinical Counselling and is a Registered Psychotherapist with the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario (CRPO# 8535). He provides counselling fluently in both English and Portuguese, and offers intermediate Spanish support for clients who appreciate a shared Latin American background or wish to use Spanish terms during sessions. Outside of clinical work, Leandro enjoys spending time with his family and friends, taking in the distinct rhythms of each season in Ontario through trail hiking, biking, winter ice skating, and sledding. Personal interests include hands-on projects such as gardening, DIY work, or fixing electronics and other items. Leandro also loves taking road trips and is an avid reader.
